Main Purpose

Producing close-die precision forgings using a variety of presses and other plant and equipment as training allows. Training will be provided to meet required skills standards and health and safety standards. This role reports to the Blades Production Supervisor.

Operating from a 680 000ft2 facility in Sheffield, we manufacture high-integrity, open-die and closed-die forged components in nickel alloy, titanium, stainless steel and carbon alloys for OEMs and tier-one suppliers within the aerospace, nuclear, power generation, marine as well as oil and gas sector.

Key Accountabilities

You will ultimately be responsible for:

  • setting up the relevant presses, including the use of methanol to set atmospherical levels;
  • daily temperature checks on furnaces and presses;
  • loadings and unloading rotary furnaces;
  • Operating the presses and other equipment as required to shape the closed die products;
  • Measuring and visual inspecting parts using various gauges and equipment.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in closed-die hot working and handling hot metal.
  • You will have extensive experience of using a multitude of processing equipment, including setting and operating close-die presses and screw presses, upsetters and extrusion presses.
  • Inspection and measuring skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in linishing would be ideal
  • Organised and self-motivated personality.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Basic education including Maths and English

Desirable:

  • Forklift truck driver’s license. This is required for transporting tooling and other production parts using both a carriage attachment and forks.
  • Basic Health and Safety understanding.
  • NVQ Level 2 in manufacturing/processing
