The Role

Join the City of London Corporation as a Commercial Programme Manager and play a crucial role in mobilising, developing, and delivering innovative commercial and income generation projects. You will drive these projects to success, ensuring objectives are clearly defined and met within time, cost and quality constraints. As a key figure in project governance, you will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver impactful outcomes and realise significant benefits. Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate projects focused on enhancing commercialisation and business acumen within the City Corporation.
  • Identify business opportunities by fostering stakeholder relationships, researching markets, and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Lead strategic identification and prioritisation of opportunities using organizational data and stakeholder engagement methodologies, gaining senior leadership approval.
  • Develop robust business cases for new projects, securing resources and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Ensure effective management of new revenue income portfolios, including regular charge reviews and proactive risk management.
  • Provide expert project management leadership to deliver outcomes within time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Manage project teams, establish project structures, and oversee transitions between project phases to ensure effective delivery and governance.

About you

You will hold a professional qualification within project/programme management and hold extensive expertise in successfully delivering projects within a large and complex organisation. You will have experience of collaborating closely with Elected Members and senior stakeholders developing credible business cases for significant investments and achieve income generation and savings targets. You will have managed revenue portfolios, monitoring progress against targets and identifying risks proactively. You will balance risk with identifying opportuntiies across various service areas. We are seeking a change agent that can function as a disruptor, has a proven record of establishing credible relationships and can turn around failing projects through effective risk mitigation and cost control measures.

With proven expertise un managing large project budgets and navigating varied priorities, you will manage a portfolio of projects and convey complex information clearly through seamless project execution. As a coach and mentor, you will upskill stakeholders and align project objectives with the Corporation’s goals, anticipate future challenges and use data driven decision making and proactive risk management to safeguard project outcomes.
