It’s an exciting time to be joining our Public Health team! We have recently been awarded Government funding to expand our work as part of the Smokefree Generation programme, and are therefore looking for a number of dynamic and passionate individuals for a variety of roles in our team.
Senior Public Health Practitioner
The role of Senior Public Health Practitioner (SPHP) provides an excellent opportunity to gain leadership experience within Public Health. Supporting Public Health Specialists, the SPHP will work collaboratively on specialist local public health programmes, providing subject matter leadership and expertise. The SPHP will support the development, implementation, and delivery of programmes to improve health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities. This will include leading key health improvement workstreams, ensuring performance expectations are met, and line management of Advanced Public Health Practitioners.
About this role:
This role will join our growing tobacco control team, supporting the strategic oversight and management of the Smokefree Generation programme. This programme encompasses several varied workstreams designed to enhance tobacco control in Devon and increase the number of people seeking and accessing support to stop smoking. This role will support the tactical management of the programme, which may include; providing management and finance support, leading evaluation of the programme, interpreting and responding to intelligence and ensuring a focus on reducing inequalities as well as meeting quit ambitions.
To be successful you will need to be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, passionate about health and wellbeing improvement and have significant experience working in public health. You'll be keen to develop and expand your skills, curious, flexible, an excellent communicator, collaborative, adaptable and able to work both independently and in teams.
About you
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual; a background in tobacco control and/or smoking cessation is preferable but not essential.
The following skills and attributes would be essential:
- Partnership working, networking, relationship building skills
- Strong interpersonal, diplomacy and communication skills
- Experience in the application of evidence-based public health
- Demonstrable track record of achieving positive outcomes and being able to evaluate and measure success
- Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects
- Knowledge of the wider health and social care agenda
- A commitment to learning, and sharing learning and insight with others
- Ability to manage budgets
