Job Title:         Head of Operations

Location:         Walsall & Hybrid.

A fantastic opportunity for Head of operation to join our senior management team in Walsall. You’ll oversee all operational, design, engineering, and delivery activities, ensuring a productive and safe workforce. Collaborate with senior staff on strategic planning, promote operational best practices, ensure smooth daily operations, manage teams, set goals and solve problems to maintain efficient operational delivery.

What’s the role:

Oversee multiple operational, site, and design teams, ensuring compliance with business procedures, laws, regulations, client specifications, and IWS standards, while deputizing for the Operations Director when required.
Manage day-to-day workloads, performance objectives, and resource development, ensuring efficient, effective, and safe completion of tasks, with a focus on statutory and regulatory training.
Ensure commercial arrangements, financial tracking, and resource planning align with client requests and contractual obligations, supporting new opportunities and growth.
Maintain and optimize assets and equipment, ensuring operational and budgetary targets set by frameworks teams are met, while leading operational meetings and consulting with suppliers, contractors, and clients.
Monitor and communicate safety performance, ensuring health, safety, quality, and environmental factors are embedded in operations, and lead investigations and incident control.
Deliver and monitor people and operational performance goals, communicate constructively, and actively seek input to support operational delivery and people management.
Produce detailed work instructions, reports, presentations, and diagnostics, supporting bids, tenders, and ensuring accurate records for consistent standards.
Provide technical expertise to clients and customers, network to identify commercial opportunities, and always maintain the company image and standards
Overseeing of the Design Manager and Design and Engineering teams.  

What you’ll need:

HND or equivalent in Engineering discipline, H&S Management (NEBOSH/CDM), with desirable qualifications in Business and Commercial Qualification and Project/Design Management
Knowledge of utility operations and commercial arrangements alongside understanding of water industry mechanical and electrical plant and associated control equipment would be advantageous. 
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, utilizing data to understand business performance, along with cost and tender experience.
Effective time management, teamwork, and the ability to work independently at both strategic and tactical operational levels.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy, and experience in implementing and maintaining quality systems, supervising senior management, program, and design teams
Demonstrated strong leadership skills, inspiring and guiding teams to deliver, with a proven ability as an operations delivery leader in a commercial and skilled environment.
