Our client, a leading entity in the heritage and town planning sector, is currently seeking a Principal Heritage Officer to join their team in Oxford on a 6-month contract to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced heritage professional to contribute to the preservation and enhancement of Oxford's historic environment.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the evaluation and assessment of heritage assets within town planning proposals
  • Providing expert advice on conservation issues to stakeholders and council members
  • Developing and implementing heritage conservation policies and strategies
  • Managing heritage-related projects and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
  • Reviewing and approving applications affecting listed buildings and conservation areas
  • Conducting site visits and heritage assessments
  • Building and maintaining relationships with local communities and heritage organisations
  • Preparing detailed reports and making recommendations on heritage matters


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in town planning and conservation
  • Strong understanding of heritage and conservation principles
  • Ability to analyse and interpret planning documents and heritage assessments
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills
  • Adept at project management and delivering heritage initiatives
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills
  • Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant degree in heritage, town planning, or a related field
