Role Overview
As an Outreach Learning Support Assistant, you will provide personalised 1:1 support for a young student with Dravet Syndrome, severe epilepsy, and developmental delays. The student enjoys puzzles, games, watching DVDs, horse riding, and indoor railway systems. They also like swimming, scootering, kayaking with their parents, and climbing frames (with close supervision). The student reacts well to a calm and nurturing environment and engages positively in games with peers. Experience in managing medical and mobility needs related to epilepsy is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support tailored to the student's needs during home sessions, community outings, and other settings.
- Assist in developing and implementing individualised learning and support plans.
- Ensure the student's safety and well-being, particularly in managing severe epilepsy and mobility needs.
- Foster a calm and nurturing environment to help the student stay engaged and focused.
- Support the student's participation in activities they enjoy, including puzzles, games, and outdoor activities.
- Facilitate positive interactions with peers and encourage engagement in group activities.
- Monitor and report on the student's progress and behaviour.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure cohesive support.
- Facilitate communication between the college, the student, and their family.
- Assist with the preparation and adaptation of learning materials to suit the student's interests and needs.
- Participate in training and professional development to stay current with best practices in supporting students with special needs.

Requirements:
- Experience working with students with Dravet Syndrome, severe epilepsy, or other significant medical needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Relevant medical background and training in epilepsy management is essential.
- A proactive and supportive approach to student engagement and learning.
- Trustworthiness and the ability to build a strong rapport with the student.
- Experience with or interest in supporting activities such as horse riding, swimming, and indoor railways.
- Ideally, a male staff member due to the student's preferences.
