Our client is looking for a principal planner to join them on a temporary contract lasting until September 2024. Our client is committed to a major programme of sustainable growth which will shape the Borough for generations to come. This will deliver thousands of new homes, regenerate its town centres and deliver environmental enhancements and an improved transport system.

Key responsibilities:

  • To manage a caseload of highly complex and/or high value planning applications across a wide range of the most complex application types.
  • To make planning judgements and recommendations to Planning Committee on major and highly complex planning applications and make planning decisions on applications where they can be determined in accordance with the Council's scheme of delegated powers.
  • To lead PPA and Pre-application discussions on behalf of the Council which set the direction of travel for major and highly complex development projects and agree/deliver the Council's planning input to those projects at both the application and pre-application stage against the performance targets agreed in Planning Performance Agreements.
  • To oversee and co-ordinate the delivery of major development projects permitted by the Council as set out in legal agreements and planning permissions which will ensure fully sustainable development is delivered on the ground.

You will need:

  • Previous planning experience
  • Full UK drivers licence
  • Excel experience
