Salary/Rate:
£30,000 - £45,000/annum Pension, 25 days holiday

This is great opportunity for an experienced engineer to be a BOM Engineer, supporting a small engineering team. A new product line has resulted in an increased workload, requiring this BOM Engineer to make a significant contribution to the design, development, manufacturing, and after sales support of a range of small electro-mechanical devices.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating and maintaining item master data and BOMs in ERP software
  • Producing and updating CAD models using Vault and Autodesk, as well as drawings of components and assemblies
  • Generating and updating written inspection, test, assembly, and calibration instructions
  • Scoping and planning of small projects
  • Reviewing queries from internal and external customers and clarifying what actions are required
  • Production support through fault finding, testing, correction and suggesting improvements to the manufacturing process
  • Assessing the implications of any specification changes, making recommendations on the suitability of substitute components

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Essential

  • Proven relevant experience in a technical role in manufacturing, ideally with electrical and electronic understanding
  • Technical qualifications at or above HNC level, or equivalent experience
  • Confidence to use initiative and work autonomously when required
  • Writing clear and concise technical instructions
  • High level of proficiency in Excel, specifically the use of functions/formulas, conditional formatting, name manager, and the creation of drop down menus
  • Knowledge of root-cause analysis with the ability to demonstrate an analytical approach to fault diagnosis
  • Practical experience of implementing solutions to engineering problems
  • Generally proactive, enthusiastic, and flexible attitude to the job role

Desirable

  • Knowledge of hazardous area regulations or experience in a highly regulated industry
  • Project management experience

The working week is 4 ½ days - Monday – Thursday 08.15 to 17.15, Friday 08.15 to 12.30.
