Role:                Support Worker - Complex Needs

Location:         Lewisham (New Cross)

Hours:              Full Time, 9-5 Mon to Fri

Rate:                £16phr UMB

Contract:         3-6 Months

Our client, a leading charity supporting women, is looking for a Support Worker to support women with complex needs.

Synopsis of Duties:

  • Working on an exciting trauma informed project for women with complex needs, released from prison, who have experienced trauma (including women on probation, those with mental health and/ or substance misuse needs, historic abuse including domestic, sexual and child)
  • The house has four clients, in this role you will support two women, as there is another Support Worker on site that will support the other two
  • Looking for someone with housing management experience, experience of housing benefits, facilitating activities and helping them to get onto educational courses, etc
  • Experience working with clients that have complex needs (substance misuse, MH, Homelessness, probation, etc)
  • Working in a holistic, trauma informed and intensive manner with the women to support them build strong foundations and work towards independent living.
  • Supporting clients with both emotional and practical needs including emotional help and well-being, self-confidence and resilience, housing, adhering to license, understanding previous trauma, benefits and income management, reuniting with family, community integration, aspirations and positive activities and education, employment and training opportunities.
  • Working closely with a range of partner agencies including CMHTs, Specialist Recovery workers, IDVAs, Social Services, Probation, the Police, Housing etc.

 Essential Requirements

  • Proven track record of supporting vulnerable people and/ or adults either within an accommodation or community-based service. Preferred experience of working with addictions, ex-offenders, substance misuse, homelessness or mental health 
  • Strong safeguarding and risk assessments skills and experience 
  • Proven track record of successfully carrying and managing your own caseload 
  • Enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months and/ or registered on the DBS Update Service
