Welding and Fabrication Inspector

Based North of Aberdeen, this client is looking to bring in a Welding and Fabricating Inspector to support the Certification Engineer/Workshop Manager.
The Role
Provide Manufacturing Inspection & engineering support to verify quality and integrity of manufactured equipment.
Responsibilities
- Review work pack drawings and select the appropriate Weld Procedure Specifications.
- Ensure Welder qualifications cover the welding being carried out.
- Complete Welding instruction to welding operators.
- Monitor Tacking and Welding process to ensure compliance with WPS.
- Complete pre weld inspections of fabrications to ensure materials, dimensions and fit up is in compliance with the specified requirements.
- Complete and document Weld Audits to ensure that welding is carried out in accordance with the selected Welding procedure specifications. Checking weld parameters and consumables.
- Complete Visual and NDT inspection using inhouse procedures or manage third party inspections - ensuring non-destructive testing is completed as per the relevant manufacturing codes and standards.
- Complete fabrication checklists / commissioning forms prior to pressure testing.
- QC dimensional and material checks to be carried out where required.
- Ensure manufacturing quality requirements for each project is adhered to with documented evidence compiled.
- Create and attend meetings with Suppliers and internal departments to communicate key issues/progress when required.
- Ensure ITP’s & manufacturing plan requirements are applied to the production process.
- Review and manage company & sub-con welding procedures and qualifications.
- Review and approve third party NDT certificates, weld maps and logs
- Liaison with all stakeholders to ensure operational requirements and customer service levels are met.
- Assist in the identification, verification and continuous monitoring of weld failures and defects.
- Assist with the future development, implementation and maintenance of company Inspection procedures to support and improve the quality process.
- To establish, meet and report on agreed KPI’s and departmental objectives to support company goals.
- Ensure that company policies and procedures are carried out.
- To support and assist in overall safe delivery of company objectives.
- Proactively identify improvements and manage NCI’s.
Requirements
Experience
- Strong engineering & manufacturing process knowledge.
- Supplier management and quality experience preferred.
- Able to interact with all levels of personnel within business.
- Computer literate (various Microsoft applications)
- Extensive experience within fabrication & welding environment.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Good level of understanding in: material & equipment specifications; certification requirements / document standards; engineering drawings; engineering terminologies.
- Awareness of Environment and Health & Safety responsibilities.
Qualifications
Good educational background.
Willing to do the training and the certification for various NDT processes, if not already obtained and valid.
CSWIP 3.1. (Minimum 3 years working experience)
Experience in welding procedures, codes and standards.
Awareness of CE marking and the PED · Engineering qualification beneficial.

Salary- £45-50K (negotiable for right candidate)
