Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Director of Studies – International & English as a Foreign Language at our Chichester campus. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £42,067 - £45,974 per annum.

The Director of Studies role:

A fantastic career progression opportunity has arisen in the Chichester College Group International team as Director of Studies – International & English as a Foreign Language.

The ideal candidate for our Director of Studies role will be working in a similar position in either the private or public sector. It is essential that you have experience of managing a team of highly experienced EFL teachers. You must also be able to deliver to the highest standards as expected by the British Council. You will have a Bachelor’s degree and be TEFLQ as defined by the British Council. Ideally, you will have or be willing to study towards the DELTM.

Key Responsibilities of our Director of Studies:

  • Lead and manage staff, finances, management information and resources within the curriculum area, in accordance with College core values, policies, procedures and regulations and in pursuit of a high quality, effective and efficient provision.
  • Work with Heads of Learning, Teaching and Learning Managers, Professional Learning Coaches (teaching and learning and ILT), study programme/course leaders and course teams to ensure that target enrolments are met, high standards of teaching and learning are reached and maintained, and student retention and achievement are maximised.
  • Improve the quality of delivery in accordance with College policies, quality assurance systems and ensure all evaluation and verification documentation are appropriately maintained, to strengthen the culture of self-assessment and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that the department operates within the British Council Accreditation framework maximising Areas of Strength.
  • Lead and support the area through any change initiatives.
  • Make a significant contribution to the College's planning, marketing and promotional activities to recruit to target in own curriculum area.

Our ideal Director of Studies should have the below skills and experience:

  • A Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults or equivalent (TEFLQ as per British Council guidelines)
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • Coaching/Mentoring qualification, or willingness to work towards
  • Level 2 literacy, numeracy and ICT
  • Experience of English as a Foreign Language curriculum delivery planning and administration
  • Previous experience as ADOS / DOS or equivalent
  • Experience of managing a budget and physical resources
