Support Worker

A dedicated school for children aged 7-19 years, based in Horsham, who have special educational challenges, are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Support Worker, within a residential children's home, to join their team of highly experienced professionals.

The school has a deep focus on addressing the educational, social and therapeutic needs of students, focusing on individual happiness and well-being where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities of a Support Worker:

  • Ensuring a fair, compassionate, consistent, and well ordered environment is maintained and enouraged.
  • Supervising children and young people before and after the school day and for activities.
  • Liaising with other staff, parents, and carers as necessary and maintaining high levels of professionalism.
  • To maintain a log of all accidents, incidents or physical intervention and to challenge suspected inappropriate practice according to policies and procedures.
  • Expected to promote and participate in care planning, developing risk assessments, behaviour management and to attend regular team meetings.

Requirements of a Senior Support Worker:

  • To be innovative, creative and flexible, and has an open mind and a willingness to learn.
  • Able to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, self-awareness and acceptance of others.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • To act as a positive role model at all times.
  • Attend training on a regular basis to ensure that all mandatory and personal training and development needs are met in line with company requirements.

Preffered Experience and Qualifications:

  • Worked in a support enviroment for at least 1 year.
  • NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care

Can provide training and support through completing a Level 3 Diploma.

Enhanced DBS needed.
