A rare opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a supportive team and deliver complex Construction Projects whilst being responsible for developing and managing cost plans to ensure financial efficiency.
Reporting to the Programme Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in the Construction team, responsible for developing and maintaining cost plans and cost estimates for larger projects (typically greater than £100 million), working on full life cycle projects from inception through to completion.
Duties will include:
- Preparing detailed budgets and cost estimates at various project stages, from initial concept to final construction, including internal costs.
- Controlling project costs and preventing overruns by tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Conducting accurate measurement, rate analysis, and risk assessments.
- Regularly updating cost plans to reflect design changes and market conditions.
- Collaborating with project stakeholders to ensure projects are completed within budget and provide optimal value.
- Supporting the development of appropriate procurement strategies, and running procurement exercises.
- Administering contracts for design and construction contracts as they are awarded including change management.
- Accurately reporting on spend, anticipated final cost and forecasting future months expenditures through to completion
As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be working within a live environment, have a flexible and adaptable approach with problem solving skills and an innovative outlook.
Skills/Requirements:
- Previous experience in a cost engineering, contract management or commercial role within the construction or infrastructure sectors working on projects typically over £5 million.
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering, construction, or business-related field.
- Full working knowledge and understanding of using web-based contract management tools (e.g. CEMAR).
- Thorough understanding of NEC suite of contracts, and associated contract administration and negotiations.
