The School:

This is a brand new school which opened in September 23. They support children and young people both at school and in the local community. It's an exciting time to join.

The school is based near the areas of Hampton, Feltham and Teddington and provides support for children aged 5-19 years who have a range of learning and behavioural needs due to social, emotional and mental health challenges. All students that attend the school have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which details their specific needs in terms of the care and support they will have access to. The school provides a safe learning environment for children who suffer with high levels of anxiety which can result in a lack of focus and challenging behaviour.

What is involved:

  • Some of the students will not be attending the school site due a range of reasons such as gang affiliation, general behaviour/disruption and anxiety/mental health needs.
  • The school provides an off-site service for these students. Your role will be to engage with them in the community by providing opportunities for enrichment and work experience.
  • You will also need to deliver Functional Skills literacy and numeracy.
  • You will need to travel to the homes of the students you work with and work with them whilst the activities and enrichment take place - travel expenses fully subsidised.
  • You need to get fully involved with their day and build strong relationships through mentoring and being a positive role model.
  • Morning and afternoon debriefs based at the school site, providing feedback and assessment of progress.
