Alecto Recruitment are looking to hear from experienced Shift Team Leader/ASTLs/Operations Technicians from the Power Generation/ Renewable Energy or Heavy Engineering sectors.

Responsibilities
* Lead and manage team performance to ensure efficient and effective operations.
* Organize and participate in occasional activities that support the development of the plant or business.
* Temporarily cover roles and responsibilities of other operations team members when necessary.
* Lead and oversee all shift activities, including Plant and Control Room operations, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of performance, quality, health and safety, and environmental compliance.
* Ensure all tasks are conducted following safe methods of work, utilizing standard operating procedures, appropriate PPE, and safety assessments, and contribute to the development of these methods where they are lacking.
* Supervise the immediate health and safety of contractors, visitors, and others within the plant operating area.
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment, including organizing periodic cleaning of operational and welfare areas.
* Record quantities of all waste materials produced (such as slag, APC residue, effluent, bed sand, etc.) and coordinate with the Plant Manager for their safe storage and disposal.
* Manage all waste materials delivered, produced, stored, and removed from the site in compliance with relevant legislation and site requirements.
* Support site maintenance operations and ensure safety systems are in place for these activities.
* Assist in ensuring the operations team possesses relevant skills and competencies by undertaking and applying appropriate training and development initiatives.

Essential Experience/Qualifications
* Ability to work safely, champion and contribute to plant safety (e.g. Hazops, risk assessments, use of safety equipment, etc), and ensure the safety of others.
* Ability to work as part of a team and to work independently.
* Work flexibly in terms of working patterns, location, and reporting lines, to ensure that the plant is manned to required levels at all times, including being on call.
* Work innovatively to provide solutions to challenges.
* Willingness to undertake training to ensure safe operation of equipment (see below)
* Provide training & coaching to team.
* Significant experience in a related industry (5 years) (i.e., waste, energy-from-waste, or process environments).
* Significant experience of leading teams.
* IT skills (especially MS Office, and ideally SCADA and/or DCS systems).
* Numeracy (strong mathematics).
