Role Overview: The School Caretaker/Maintenance person will be responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the school premises. This includes ensuring the school environment is safe, clean, and conducive to learning. The successful candidate will work closely with the school administration and staff to address maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on buildings and equipment.
• Ensure the school grounds are kept clean and tidy.
• Conduct regular health and safety checks and risk assessments.
• Manage security of the school premises, including opening and closing the school.
• Oversee heating, lighting, and alarm systems to ensure they are functioning correctly.
• Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs and maintenance projects.
• Maintain an inventory of tools and equipment and ensure they are in good working order.
• Assist with setting up rooms and equipment for school events and activities.
• Respond to urgent maintenance requests promptly.
• Support the school in adhering to health and safety regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous experience in a similar caretaking or maintenance role is essential.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Physical fitness, as the role involves manual labor and handling equipment.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
