Salary:             £23,000 pa

Hours:             37.5 per week; Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with No On-Call

Duration:         Permanent

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days + Bank Holidays
 

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of survivors of modern slavery? Our client, a dedicated charity, committed to supporting refugees, unaccompanied asylum seekers, victims of domestic violence, and survivors of modern-day slavery, is seeking a Specialist Support Worker to join their new service in West Yorkshire.
 

About the Role:

As a Specialist Support Worker, you will be a vital advocate for survivors of modern slavery. Your role involves supporting clients in overcoming social, personal, physical, and mental health challenges, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives.

Synopsis of duties:

  • Working within a safe house and key working approximately 10 survivors of modern slavery
  • Assisting clients with accessing benefits, healthcare, housing, education, and other services.
  • Processing referrals from the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) and inducting clients into the service
  • Supporting clients in developing daily routines and activities to help them integrate into the community.
  • Promote the service and ensure clients have access to all available services and working closely with a range of partners, agencies and service
  • Working independently in both office and community settings, adhering to security procedures and risk management strategies.
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information with care and professionalism.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of supporting vulnerable children, young people and/ or adults either within an accommodation or community-based service is essential. Preferred experience of working with victims of abuse, trafficking, homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, complex needs, offenders and/ or refugees
  • Understanding of issues faced by asylum seekers, refugees, victims of domestic abuse, and modern slavery
  • Knowledge of housing, welfare benefits, and community care legislation
  • Ability to speak additional languages, including sign language would be advantageous but not essential
  • Proficiency in using databases, MS Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload, work autonomously, and handle confidential information
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the update service would be highly desirable
