Jackson Hogg are delighted to be recruiting a full-time Depot Manager within our Gosport depot. The Depot Manager is responsible for the operational management of the logistics, transport and warehousing functions. To include health and safety, working within set budgets, and ensuring all vehicle and on-site and legal requirements are met.

Role description:

 We are looking for a credible Depot Manager with a proven track record of running all elements of a busy fulfillment warehouse operation dealing with multiple customers.

The Depot Manager will play a critical role in the profitability of the depot. Your goal will be to provide the best in customer excellence, ensuring the depot meets its customer and financial targets, helping to guarantee future sustainability and business growth.

You will be responsible for developing an efficient and effective team and creating a motivational and inspiring working environment which will help your staff reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will have an excellent appreciation of health and safety within the logistics/warehouse environment and be able to promote this effectively within teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the depot and all staff, contractors and visitors adhere to Health and Safety and that the depot is compliant with all Health and Safety regulations
  • The Depot Manager will adopt a flexible and well organised approach to working, with the ability to delegate and prioritise multiple tasks
  • Responsible for the production, circulation and monitoring/evaluating of KPIs, ensuring all relevant data is accurately captured and auctioned
  • Responsible for ensuring optimum and efficient use of resources, drivers, hiring and de-hiring vehicles
  • Responsible for the overall planning and organisation of logistics workloads
  • The Depot Manager will have responsibility for managing information and general administration at their site with the support of HR and Admin functions
  • Responsible for remaining within the depot’s financial budget, achieving budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analysing variances and initiating corrective actions
  • Will work with their direct team to ensure quality control measures are in place and effective
  • Will work with the business development team, their direct team, our customers and suppliers to manage projects according to approved project plans
  • Ensure all depot and vehicle legal requirements are met
  • Ensure that logistics checks and warehouse stock checks are conducted in accordance with procedures and make necessary recommendations to improve and update procedures
  • Regularly review and challenge warehouse/transport arrangements to ensure optimisation of resources
  • Manage, motivate and give clear direction to the team whilst also working closely with other on site and head office functions
  • Ensure efficient time slot planning and resource of all inbound and outbound movements, working closely with the warehouse function
  • Responsible for setting team objectives in line with overall business objectives and regularly reviewing team performance against those objectives, ensuring you maintain high standards in quality and customer excellence
  • Responsible for the performance appraisal and coaching/mentoring of logistics staff
  • Clearly communicate at all levels with a positive, confident and customer focused outlook
  • Build effective partnerships with our customers, understanding their needs and feeding back recommendations for improved customer experience to the business development team
  • Ensure the timely processing of all necessary system transactions to ensure real time stock integrity and prompt invoicing
  • To undertake any other duties as required by the Managing Director to support the operation

What you’ll need:

  • Experience in a similar Logistics multiple client fulfillment operation
  • Customer Service focused.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Health and Safety practices applicable to our industry/working environment
  • Desire to continually improve standards and experiences
