The Role: 

Main Responsibilities:

You will act as a contact between the senior leadership team in COP and our people, in person, by telephone and email. You will maintain essential working relationships with delivery partners, both internal and external to the business by :

  • Supporting the G7 Business Manager to deliver COP business change across the business, including communicating COP developments and updates.
  • Developing and sharing business change delivery plans and roadmaps to aid the delivery of change to the business.
  • Establishing and maintain excellent working relationships with the senior managers, and COP stakeholders, working proactively to resolve conflicts and prioritizing issues.
  • Working iteratively with COP leads, BF Portfolio Services, business change managers and stakeholders to identify potential blockers to COP delivery.
  • Engaging with Border Force officers when required to establish user needs.
  • Gaining the views of senior managers on actions for governance and change meetings to support ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Working closely with DDaT and COP customers to develop and maintain feedback processes.
  • Assist the running of the COP change process. This may include producing and circulating minutes, taking actions/notes and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Organising staff/team meetings in and out of the office including senior stakeholder and internal away days, internal meetings, events and external meetings.
  • Attending senior leadership meetings on behalf of the Product Lifecycle management team when required.
  • Undertaking knowledge management activities: identifying, controlling and storing any relevant information, and maintaining knowledge items.
  • Sharing knowledge and expertise with others, coaching and supporting team members as required.
  • Other Ad Hoc Duties – Providing cover for the Business Function leads whilst they are absent and performing ad hoc duties for stream areas commensurate of the grade.


Person Specification:

  • Business Change management and delivery
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and an understanding of the use of different channels and formats for different audiences.
  • Good planning capabilities with good attention to detail, is highly organised at all times and able to prioritise ever changing workloads.
  • Is highly motivated and has experience in multitasking daily, while working in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to communicate in a straightforward, honest and engaging manner, choosing appropriate styles and different communication methods to maximise understanding and impact.
  • A track record of leading from the front
  • A sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to apply good judgement, common sense and discretion in making decisions and solving problems on behalf of senior colleagues
  • Ability to work within a team and to liaise with stakeholders and customers.
  • Ability to build relationships with peers across the organisation.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams across multiple locations and technologies.
