Job Overview

Are you a dynamic and motivated Associate Geotechnical Engineer? Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is seeking an Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in London. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and inspire project teams, build strong client relationships, and contribute to groundbreaking projects across various sectors.



Key Associate Geotechnical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management:

    • Lead project teams with ethical and proactive guidance.
    • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering career growth and personal development.
  • Client Relations & Business Development:

    • Represent the company to existing and potential clients.
    • Establish and nurture client relationships through exceptional project delivery.
    • Engage in client liaison to ensure clear communication and satisfaction.
  • Project Management:

    • Oversee all aspects of project programming and monitoring.
    • Develop concept designs and design philosophy in collaboration with the Project Director.
    • Conduct geotechnical site investigations and deliver high-standard designs and assessments.
  • Quality & Compliance:

    • Implement and adhere to Quality Assurance and Health & Safety policies.
    • Select and manage sub-consultants in coordination with the Commercial Manager.
  • Financial Management:

    • Develop fee proposals and manage project cost control.
    • Negotiate fee variations with clients alongside the Project Director.



Experience & Skills

  • Relevant Experience:

    • Minimum 8 years in design and design development for buildings and infrastructure projects.
    • Minimum 6 years in ground movement assessment and impact assessment of buildings and infrastructure assets.
  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Strong numerical analysis skills, including Plaxis, Wallap, Oasys package, and Slope W.
    • Proficient in developing fee proposals and managing project invoices.



Key Performance Indicators, Associate Geotechnical Engineer

  • Project Profitability & Performance:

    • Ensure projects meet programme milestones and achieve profitability targets.
    • Maintain high client satisfaction and secure ongoing business.
  • Technical Excellence & Staff Development:

    • Promote technical excellence and continuous improvement within the team.
    • Actively participate in developing the UK practice, enhancing culture, procedures, and professional development.
  • Compliance & Safety:

    • Oversee the implementation of Quality Assurance and Health & Safety procedures.



Associate Geotechnical Engineer Authority

  • Project & Staff Management:

    • Allocate staff to projects and acquire additional resources.
    • Negotiate fees and variations (subject to Director approval).
  • Design Approval & Correspondence:

    • Approve design documentation and project correspondence (subject to quality system conformance and Director approval).
