Role- Pensions Manager

Reporting to Payroll Directors

The role is predominately UK focused.

In this managerial role, you will lead the effective delivery of Pensions Policy, Support Strategy, and Administration within my client UK. Your specific responsibilities include:

Key Purpose of Job Description:

Strategic Leadership: Own and manage Pension Delivery with the supervision of the pensions teams, promoting and monitoring the use of our internal ticketing systems to ensure efficient operations.

Compliance and Provision: Support the company in providing compliant pension provision for new and existing business, including LGPS, NHS, and Civil Service pension schemes, among others, as we expand into new business areas.

Sub-Committee Participation: Actively participate in relevant pensions subcommittees, such as those for Railway Pension Scheme sections, smaller.

arrangements, or as an employer representative in meetings of the client Pension & Life Assurance Scheme trustees.

Retirement Calculations: Conduct retirement-related calculations, estimates, and monthly or annual submissions for schemes where the employer is expected to fulfil or participate in that function.

Death in Service Management: Play a key role in managing Death in Service for employees in client Group by liaising with the death in service master trust provider and insurers, as directed by Group Reward.

Subject Matter Expertise: Provide expert support to People Services teams, PSPs, and HRDs, advising on complex pension queries and changes, seeking advice from the Pensions Manager or Group Reward where appropriate.

Operational Improvements: Drive operational improvements by requesting and defining enhancements and supporting changes to improve our colleagues' experience and awareness of Pensions at client.

Support Group Director of Pension: Collaborate closely with the Group Director of Pension to align strategies, provide insights, and ensure the seamless execution of pension-related initiatives across the organisation.

  • Previous experience in a specialist pension role.
  • Knowledge of Auto Enrolment and public sector pensions schemes.
  • Core IT skills, particularly MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of defined benefit pension calculations.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional qualification relevant to pensions is highly desirable.

Your strategic vision and managerial expertise will be essential in fostering a high-performing team and delivering exceptional pension services across client UK. Acting as an SME within the SBS Payroll/Pensions team in relation to public sector pension matters.

The role is predominately UK focussed.

Working closely in conjunction with the UK&E Head of Reward and business unit HR Directors for UK&E, to drive improvements in retirement planning for our colleagues and improve compliance and outcomes in relation to pension schemes.

Additional Information

  • Flexibility with role location - Hampshire, London or West Midlands with the ability to work from home.
  • Occasional UK travel may be required to provide training or attend meetings on Serco contracts or with external advisors.
