This Senior 3D CAD Engineer will report to the Principal Design Engineer and will work within UK Power Networks Services based in our Area West Projects, Hounslow office. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary of £76,229 plus outer London Allowance and a bonus of 3%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

Job Purpose:

To ensure that standards and processes for CAD / BIM are in place and implemented, and that these standards are communicated and applied across projects for the full lifecycle.

Dimensions:

You will produce design drawings relating to projects for UKPN Services electrical networks supply and scope provided by Design Engineers and Project Managers.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Produce design drawings as part of the designs constructed in a safe manner.
  2. Ensure compliance with the standards for BIM level 2 - including ISO (phone number removed):2018 and ISO (phone number removed):2018;
  3. Produce a coordinated 3D model environment, and review processes.
  4. Produce 2D and 3D design models using latest Computer Aided Design CAD packages from Bentley and AutoDesk, as projects require.
  5. Compliance with design assurance and audit processes
  6. Comply with the requirements of the designer as determined by the CDM Regulations (as amended in April 2016)
  7. Support and mentor other members of the team to enhance their technical knowledge.
  8. Help with preparation of tenders and quotations.
  9. Manage workload
  10. Work as a Team Player in a dedicated team of Designers and CAD.

Nature and Scope:

The CAD 3D Engineer will be an important contributor to the design team, establishing and assisting the Design Team in the management of the project workflows and being responsible for quality, clash detection and data conversion. The CAD 3D Engineer will report directly to the Principal Design Engineer and collaborate with the Project Managers.

UKPN Services is introducing Bentley ProjectWise for all projects. You will help with the implementation and application of this system across all assets and also ensure compliance with the Common Data Environment (CDE).

Qualifications

  • An electrical engineering background
  • Experience in electrical engineering with emphasis on AC and DC substation design.
  • User of Bentley MicroStation Connect edition CAD system or equivalent.
  • User of AutoDesk products including AutoCAD 2012 or higher.
  • User of AutoDesk 3D products
  • User of AutoDesk Revit
  • Knowledge and usage of Bentley ProjectWise V8i
  • Good Knowledge and usage of AutoDesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and Map.
  • Have knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and its processes, including standards ISO19650 parts 1 and 2, and PAS1192-3-2016.
  • Identify clashes, resolve problems and spatial issues within 3D model environments with coordinated designs.
  • Produce 3D design model drawings including building coordinated services for all disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil) through the main 3D model environment on any given project. Outputs including 2D equipment layouts, single line diagrams, logic diagrams, schematics, wiring and cabling diagrams.
  • Work with external engineering organisations and customers/partners representing UKPN Services to best effect.
  • A good safety culture and sound understanding of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and their application in this role.
  • Work unsupervised, set and comply with own targets, and identify cost-saving solutions.
  • Good team working skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft desktop applications, in particular: Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Competent in communications.
  • Well organised and able to meet targets.
  • Excellent analytical, organisation & planning skills..
