We are now looking for an Ecologist to join us on a full-time basis for a two year fixed term contract, working 37 hours per week.

The Role

As our Ecologist, you will support the enhancement and conservation of wildlife on Exmoor.

Supporting the ecological aspects of our work, you’ll advise on planning applications and land management and deliver our nature recovery projects and Biodiversity Net Gain, ensuring wildlife across the National Park is expanded, connected and supported.

You’ll engage with landowners and managers, enabling them to support more wildlife within their holdings, and ensure colleagues and tenants of the ENPA estate are equipped to support nature recovery.

Additionally, you will:

- Support action against invasive species, reducing their impact on Exmoor’s special qualities
- Advise The Nature Conservation Advisory Panel 
- Ensure The Natural Environment Record is maintained and updated
- Support volunteers
- Gather information for the State of the Park wildlife report
 
About You

To be considered as an Ecologist, you will need:

- Experience within an ecological discipline
- Experience of effectively managing resources, contractors, staff, or volunteers
- Project management skills with some experience of securing external funding
- The ability to conduct field surveys and willingness to work in the field
- Working knowledge and understanding of legislation, policy and guidance affecting the natural environment, including a working knowledge of guidelines for surveys and mitigation for protected species and Biodiversity Net Gain
- A degree level qualification in ecology or a relevant environmental discipline, or equivalent experience
- A professional member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or be working towards this qualification
- A full, valid driving licence

The closing date for this role is 24th July 2024.

Interviews will be held on 7th August 2024.
