Tate Recruitment are working in partnership with a Bristol local authority, dedicated to providing safe, sustainable, and compliant housing solutions for our community. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Housing Compliance Manager to join their team and ensure our housing portfolio adheres to all regulatory requirements.

Job Overview:

The Housing Compliance Manager will lead a team responsible for sponsoring, monitoring, and reporting the performance metrics to internal and external stakeholders, including the Social Housing Regulator. This role involves generating the supporting narrative for the 'Big Six' housing compliance areas: electrical, water, gas, fire, asbestos, and lifts. You will also be responsible for answering stakeholder questions and conducting audits. This position requires excellent leadership, a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of housing compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team responsible for compliance monitoring and reporting activities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all properties comply with national housing regulations, including the Housing Act, landlord licensing requirements, and local Bristol housing codes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Oversee the monitoring of compliance performance metrics and ensure timely reporting to internal ad external stakeholders, including the Social Housing Regulator.
  • Reporting: Generate detailed reports and narratives related to the 'Big Six' housing compliance areas: electrical, water, gas, fire, asbestos, and lifts.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Answer questions from stakeholders and provide clear, concise, and accurate information regarding compliance issues.
  • Policy Development: Develop, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures to align with current laws and best practices.
  • Audit Management: Conduct regular audits and inspections of properties to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Training: Provide training and support to property management staff on compliance-related matters.
  • Incident Management: Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues and complaints.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, including inspections, audits, and training sessions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with regulatory agencies, legal advisors, and internal departments to ensure compliance standards are met.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of national and local housing regulations.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing compliance programs and audits.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams.
