Yolk Recruitment are working with a leading Maritime Technology Company helping in their search for a Civil Engineer to join there ever growing organisation and work on exciting projects across the Globe.

The project delivery scope includes the construction, installation and commissioning of Civil infrastructure that comprises remote coastal sensor and communications towers, coastal monitoring infrastructure, utilities buildings, and regional and national command and control centres, all equipped with state-of-the-art technology to oversee customer maritime activities.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Engineer to join our projects delivery team and contribute to the success of our customer projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and designing specifications for sensor towers and coastal station installations, ensuring structural integrity, compliance with local regulations, and alignment with project objectives. Additionally, the role involves working closely with local contractors to realise the design specifications and ensure adherence to local construction regulations, and design and sensor loading's are fully understood, and that consider environmental conditions where sites operate (E.g. locations where high winds, high temperatures, earthquakes etc. are frequent)

Responsibilities

Civil Engineering Specifications Development:

  • Develop detailed technical specifications for tower and coastal station installations.
  • Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine optimal locations for installations.
  • Perform (or support and validate third party) structural calculations to ensure designs meet design loads and limitations for environmental conditions, such as high wind, high temperatures, and potential earthquakes.
  • Ensure designs meet safety, structural, and environmental standards.

Project Planning and Management:

  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to integrate civil engineering aspects into the overall project plan.
  • Prepare project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans in consultation with local contractors (as required)
  • Oversee the procurement of materials and services required for construction.

Collaboration with Local Contractors:

  • Identify and engage with local contractors to carry out construction activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to contractors to ensure they understand and execute the design specifications correctly.
  • Monitor contractor's work to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and standards.
  • Ensure designs meet design loads and limitations for environmental conditions.

Construction Oversight:

  • Supervise the construction and installation of towers and coastal stations, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and address any issues or deviations from the plan.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during construction.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the construction team.
  • Prepare and present progress reports to project stakeholders and management.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all designs and constructions comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in designing and managing the construction of communication / sensor towers, coastal stations, or similar structures.
  • Strong knowledge of structural calculations, construction materials, methods, and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and sustainable design practices.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other computer aided engineering design tools is desirable.
  • Project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with local contractors and a deep understanding of local construction regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
  • English language; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.

  • Ability to work in challenging environments and to tight deadlines.
