Vantage Children’s Services are seeking a dedicated, highly motivated and experienced Deputy Children’s Home Manager to join the team at their residential home in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire.

Location: Onsite, Newcastle-Under-Lyme (ST5 3PH)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £35,000.00 - £40,000.00 per annum + Bonus

Shift Availability: Day Shifts, Monday-Friday, Night Shifts, Overtime, Weekends

Hours: 12 hour shift, 8 hour shift

Supplemental pay types: Loyalty bonus, Performance bonus

Deputy Manager - Job Overview: 

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the care and well-being of children in our brand new, purpose built, therapeutic home, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for up to 3 children & young people.

The Deputy Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the home, managing a team of residential support workers, and maintaining a high standard of care. Career development to the role of Registered Manager is an expectation of the role.

There will be an expectation to undertake the role of 'home manager' after 8 months. During this period, our experienced Registered Manager will still be present day to day, to provide support and guidance if required, but will also be overseeing the development of another one of our residential children's homes in the vicinity. Therefore, greater role and responsibility in the management of the home is expected. This additional responsibility will have a pay increase commensurate with the role.

Deputy Manager - Day-to-Day Responsibilities: 

- Use life skills to profoundly impact children’s lives, including those who require high levels of supervision and support

- Ensure the welfare and care of each child while providing guidance and support to residential workers

- Provide compassionate, therapeutic care to children with EBD needs and support in their daily routines

- Lead shifts, supervise staff, follow placement plans, and support education

- Share the on-call rota alongside the Registered Manager

- Assist the Registered Manager with OFSTED inspections / Reg 44 Visits

- Assist the Registered Manager with external and internal audits

- Ensure all staff receive a thorough induction and oversee continuation training

- Monitor finances and ensure budgets are managed effectively

- Assume responsibility for running the home in the Manager’s absence

- Be available for on-call duties as required

- Safely manage all risks in accordance with company policies and procedures

- Effectively communicate daily plans with the team

- Review and maintain young people’s care plans and associated documentation

Deputy Manager - Job Requirements:

- Residential Children's Care: 5 years (preferred)

- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification

- Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management or prepared to work towards

- Flexible and can work unsociable shift patterns

- Understanding of current legislation (e.g., Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, including quality standards)

- Role model prepared to become an active member of our committed team

- Willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care

- Represent the Manager professionally in meetings and other contexts

- Commitment to ongoing professional development

- Willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care

- Aspirations to progress to Registered Manager position

- Hold a full manual driving licence
