We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Children’s Home Registered Manager to join our team in Selly Oak. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our care facility, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires a compassionate leader who can effectively manage staff, resources, and foster a positive environment for both residents and employees.

Role Purpose

  • Work restoratively with the child or young person and maintain the restorative process. To involve the child or young person in this process and encourage them to be responsible for their actions. Assist them to find ways to resolve disagreements and conflict by working restoratively.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with parents and other family members; social workers; school staff and other professionals with a concern for the children’s needs such as general practitioners or psychologists.
  • Ensure children and young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive
  •  Take responsibility for progressing any complaints or child protection concerns
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
  • Attend and contribute to childcare planning and review meetings as appropriate.

Profile

Good interpersonal skills are a necessity of a Registered Manager with the ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing. A Registered Manager must be able to prioritise their workload and that of their team, maintaining and monitoring accurate records. They must be able to work effectively within a team and independently when required. A Registered Manager must be able to demonstrate effective leadership and management skills as these are key to the role, as is an understanding of and experience of adolescent and challenging behaviour. A Registered Manager must meet the requirements for their own personal registration with Ofsted

Essential requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people in a residential setting within the last 5 years.
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience of supervising and managing professional staff.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Care or an equivalent qualification.
  • The post holder must hold a full driving licence and have the use of a vehicle as travelling may be required throughout the UK.

Working Hours:

  • Full time 40 hours per week and additional hours as required to meet the needs of the service.
  • Full-time, permanent position. Hours may vary and will include some weekends and on-call responsibilities.
