Summary:
The Mobile Operator will be responsible for operating and monitoring the assets associated with the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) on multiple sites in the South, UK. The primary site will be based in Ledbury with the expectation to travel regularly to sites in South, UK. Travel to other sites across the UK may be required on an as/when basis. All travel and overnight expenses will be paid for by the company in line with the expenses policy except for Ledbury (main site).

The WWTP at Ledbury is operated 7 days per week on a 12-hour day shift from December to August (out of milling season) and 24 hours a day August to November (milling season). During milling season, you will be dedicated entirely to the site in Ledbury on a 4-on-4-off shift pattern, which will include night shifts. Note that no holidays can be taken during milling season however you will receive an additional shift payment allowance. Outside of milling season you will be working across various sites, generally on 8-hour day shifts.

The on-site WWTPs receive mixed effluent from the customer and requires treatment to a high standard. The processes therefore require regular monitoring for any deviation from the operational plan. The role also requires that the assets are operated at optimum performance at all times, the operator will form part of a team framework to assist in this duty.

You will prepare the assets for basic planned maintenance tasks as required, also you will be expected to maintain analytical data into a computer-based system to record plant performance. The Operator will execute monitoring control activities and implementation of operational changes.

In addition, the Operator is expected to be able to carry out basic first line preventative maintenance activities on equipment, such as cleaning of process instruments on a regular basis, changing over duty pumps and equipment as necessary and ensuring the process assets are in as good condition as possible. The role requirements are the safe and seamless operation of the WWTP in accordance with the regulatory consent and without interruption to the customer’s production activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work within the client and NSI HSE systems
  • Visible ownership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within NSI
  • Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and NSI
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customer personnel, NSI employees and sub-contractor staff
  • Proactively manage external relationships with the client and sub-contractors
  • Innovate in the workplace to bring improvement and opportunity
  • Identify faults, evaluate rectification measures and to make initial recommendations, to carry out basic repairs
  • Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the WWTP on site
  • Carry out daily laboratory water analysis and promptly report any deviations to Site Management and Technical Team
  • Utilising plant information, identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems and evaluate and make initial recommendations to return plant to its optimum operating condition
  • Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices
  • To work unsupervised with a proactive attitude
  • Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other NSI staff
  • Undergo training as required and identify training needs

Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential):

  • Operational experience and knowledge of wastewater treatment plant
  • Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment plants
  • Ability and knowledge to complete basic repairs and maintenance
  • Full clean driving licence
  • NVQ Level 2

Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable):

  • To be able to demonstrate through previous experience, an ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant
  • Maintenance knowledge of wastewater treatment plant
  • Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system
  • Experience of working directly with sub-contractors
  • Computer literate
  • A working knowledge of running electro-mechanical plant
  • Training in Environmental Health and Safety
  • Time served Technician/Fitter/Electrician/Mechanic
  • Forklift Licence
  • HSE Qualifications

Working for us means: 

  • The salary is between £27,000 & £34,000 per year, depending on your professional experience.
