We are currently working exclusively with our client who is experiencing sustained growth and is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. Our client is a leading process contractor, delivering process, electrical and mechanical projects within the FMCG industry.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Design Engineer to join our client's team on a permanent basis.
As an Electrical & Instrumentation Design Engineer with our client, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining control systems and instrumentation solutions to optimise their service offering. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the electrical systems meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.

Example of responsibilities:
- Oversee project tendering processes in accordance with company protocols, offering technical assistance to the sales team and ensuring compliant submission of subcontractor tenders.
- Supervise electrical engineering operations following company guidelines, ensuring projects meet key performance indicators aligned with company growth goals.
- Coordinate internal and external electrical engineering personnel to clarify roles and responsibilities, facilitating timely project completion.
- Develop project plans and budgets considering initial project specifications, company quality assurance standards, and legal requirements.
- Provide and enhance technical project engineering support including flow sheets and P&ID development, functional design specifications, and risk assessments.
- Establish and refine project-specific safety protocols.
- Monitor and enhance customer relationships to maximise future opportunities.
- Set clear objectives for direct reports and regularly evaluate performance.
Experience/ Skills Required as an Electrical & Instrumentation Design Engineer
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing control systems for industrial applications.
- Established expertise in fault finding and solution providing, of control systems for industrial applications.
- Proficient in programming PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley) and SCADA/HMI systems.
- Thorough comprehension of instrumentation principles with practical experience in selection, calibration, and integration.
- Ability to effectively manage both senior and junior staff, supported by extensive leadership experience, or a willingness to cultivate and lead a team.
- Familiarity with working under CDM 2015 regulations and guidelines.
- Flexibility to travel within the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Europe as necessary.
