Engineering / Apprentice Trainers - Coventry and Oxford

Aligned with world class partner organisations, a training capability has been developed to embed the skills, knowledge and behaviours required in advanced manufacturing and engineering environments and factories of the future.

The majority of this training is aimed at Apprenticeship and Commercial level (engineer upskilling) to ultimately develop the engineering talent of the future.

Location – Coventry & Oxford (relocation support available)

As an Engineering Trainer, you will be supported to help develop and deliver a comprehensive and innovative teaching and learning experience, representing a variety of practical and theoretical skills.

This will require you to deliver high quality technical training to small groups of learners through face-to-face or online learning following nationally recognised qualifications.

As well as developing technical knowledge and skills you will be instrumental in developing softer skills which are embedded within the Apprenticeship system. This will require you to provide regular constructive feedback to learners and record their impact on their own learning on a regular basis.

Of importance – you do not need to be an experienced trainer or teacher previously but will possess an aptitude and genuine interest in supporting the development of others, possible gained in a previous industry role where you may have held responsibility for some coaching and learning needs of more junior team members within any of the following fields:

  • Electrical / Electronic (Industrial Electrical Control, Motor Control and Panel Building)
  • Mechanical / Fluid Power (Pneumatics, Hydraulics, plus Electronic applications)
  • Workshop (including CNC Machining processes, Tooling, Additive Manufacturing)     

 

The Role 

Ultimately, you will be shaped and developed to perform the following key activities including:

  • Effective delivery of engineering based knowledge and practical subjects at level 2, 3 and HNC, paying due regard to developing independent learners, and enabling apprentice progression towards successful completion of both the level 3 apprenticeship & HNC programmes.
  • Management of all physical learning resources and teaching spaces required to ensure the training and assessment of learners is achieved within the guided learning hours.
  • Learning content creation and development of apprenticeship trailblazers’ schemes-of-work. Identifying and coordinating the integration of relevant existing training offers from industry partners into the apprenticeship scheme of work.
  • Monitoring of the learning environment. Ensuring learner workplace Health, Safety and welfare.
  • Ensuring the progress of the whole caseload of Learners towards completing their apprenticeship in a timely manner and supporting individual needs and approach to support them. 

 

The Person 

Successful individuals for the Engineering Trainer roles will possess:

  • A high level of direct Engineering knowledge preferably gained from a number of years direct industrial experience.
  • Evidence of lean practices and some previous training or coaching delivery.
  • Industry related qualifications such as HND, or NVQ's.
  • Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSE's in Maths and English grade C or above - essential
  • CAVA or equivalent assessor qualifications - desirable
  • Recognised Training/Teaching Qualification - desirable
  • Internal Quality Assurance qualifications – desirable
