Jackson Hogg are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity with one of our long standing clients in the Durham Area.  We are currently seeking an IT Desktop Technician to join their IT Team

The clients IT infrastructure is crucial for providing business needs and empowering users productivity whilst also providing support for strong business growth and scalability.
Working under the guidance of our IT Manager you will be responsible for all day-to-day IT issues within the business at their site in Sedgefield and for coordinating tasks with IT team in the US. Day-to-day tasks will involve providing IT desktop support to Kromek UK users onsite and remotely for satellite offices and users working from home.
You must be approachable, able to work on your own initiative, have good problem-solving skills and be able to communicate technical issues to a mixture of technical and non-technical users.
Occasional travel may be required to our other site in the UK and very occasionally the USA. Candidates must hold a current valid passport.

Responsibilities

  • 1st and 2nd line support, Providing cover to desktop users in the UK and US.
  • Liaising with MSPs when required (IT, telephone systems, photocopier engineers, etc.)
  • Install, upgrade, support and troubleshoot for printers, computers and any other authorized peripheral equipment.
  • Basic staff IT Training
  • IT asset management - Tracking, user tagging/updating, disposing activities and spares stocks management.
  • Organize and maintain physical network cables and ports.
  • Help to create & maintain documentation of the current environment set up to improve support and knowledge.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks and repairs for EUC devices (notebooks, desktops, tablets, printers, meeting room devices etc.) within specified warranty requirement.
  • Clone critical production equipment and upgrade hardware where possible.

Requirements

  • Approachable with excellent communication skills.
  • Active Directory (including Azure AD) and group policy knowledge.
  • Ability to perform remote troubleshooting and provide clear instructions.
  • Good understanding of network fundamentals.
  • In-depth working knowledge of all Microsoft desktop operating systems.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (including MS Teams and SharePoint).
  • Excellent technical skills with an ability to pick up new technologies quickly.
  • GDPR & CE+ – General Data Protection Regulation & Cyber Essentials Plus awareness.
  • Knowledge of network security practices and anti-virus programs.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL based ticketing systems (Service Now, Remedy, HPSM etc.) for Incident, Problem, Change, Asset Management for end user computing (EUC) environment.
  • Customer-oriented attitude.

Desirable:

  • Microsoft Exchange online experience.
  • Windows server administration experience.
  • Firewall and general network administration.
  • Windows Deployment Services experience.
  • Mobile device management (MDM).
  • PowerShell / Batch Scripting.
  • Virtualization (Hyper-V, Azure VMs).
  • Sage Accounts knowledge.
  • Linux experience.
  • 3CX IP Phone System.
