The Instructor Technician in Electrical & Plumbing role:

Are you looking for a part time role where you can use your expertise in plumbing and electrical in the convenient location of central Crawley?

Crawley College are recruiting for an Instructor Technician to join their Construction team and support our workshops, where a variety of construction related subjects are taught including Plumbing and Electrical. This role would be ideal if you have an interest in the Construction field but don’t want to be working in an outside environment in all weathers!

Our Instructor Technician will provide technical support to staff and students, including the safe use of equipment and facilitate daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation of teaching resources and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities of our Instructor Technician in Electrical & Plumbing:

  • Undertaking administration related to course requirements and provide reports and statistics as required.
  • Participating in marketing activities and promote the College for the purpose of gaining sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment.
  • Liasing with Additional Support in specific cases to ensure students get appropriate support.
  • Participating in curriculum area, College, employer/parent functions, reviews, meetings and promotional activities, as required.
  • Organising daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation and maintainance of resources, services and housekeeping.
  • Providing assistance to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment.
  • Implementing and maintaining the regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health legislation, including the reviews of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace and undertake risk assessments.
  • Participating in course review activities and the generation and implementation of new resources and action plans.

Our ideal Instructor Technician in Electrical & Plumbing should have the below skills and experience:

  • Level 2 qualification in the relevant subject area
  • Level 2 in literacy and numeracy, or willingness to work towards
  • Experience in following/applying Health and Safety procedures
  • Experience in ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Competency in using the relevant tools/equipment
  • Time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
