Sub-Contract Buyer – Hitchin – Regional Contractor

I am currently representing a Regional construction company operating from their head office in Hertfordshire. Their core activity is managing the design and construction process of projects across all market sectors. From education to major commercial projects, renovation to new build, this company has the knowledge and experience to complete projects on time and within budget through a range of procurement methods.

The Role

• Manage procurement and supply chain processes for strategic trades, including ground works, piling, demolition, and frame, ensuring effective sourcing and supply chain efficiency.
• Provide professional procurement services for sub-contractors in strategic trades, focusing on delivering the best overall value for money.
• Offer pre-construction advice and strategy to the Bid Leader, ensuring optimal preparation and execution of procurement activities.
• Drive continuous improvement within the supply chain, fostering a culture of efficiency, productivity, and ongoing enhancement in trade performance.
• Support regional procurement goals, aligning with group objectives to ensure cohesive and effective procurement practices across the region.
• Manage the supply chain for strategic trades, including: Maintaining and developing supply chain listings. Performing performance and relationship management to enhance supply chain efficiency and cost benefits.
• Take on project procurement activities for Bid/Project Leaders, covering the following responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with estimating, design, and commercial teams to develop comprehensive work package documents.
2. Oversee the tender process, ensuring thorough evaluation and selection of contractors.
3. Conduct contract negotiations, balancing terms to meet project requirements.
4. Make final recommendations to the Project Leader based on detailed assessments.
5. Draft sub-contracts, ensuring clarity and compliance with project standards.​​​​​​​
