ROLE - Manufacturing Engineer

LOCATION - Cardiff

TERM - PERM

SALARY - £35,000 - £45,000pa

I am currently working with a Global Pharmaceutical company who are on the lookout for a Manufacturing Engineer. As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be charged with the implementation and promotion of lean and continuous improvement activities throughout the company.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining automated and standalone manufacturing processes, equipment, jigs, fixtures, and more to meet project requirements and safety standards.
  • Supporting and enhancing continuous improvement initiatives for existing processes to boost efficiency and productivity.
  • Compiling and assisting in the creation of essential documentation, including risk assessments and production work instructions, to ensure safe working practices.
  • Keeping comprehensive records of all documentation, such as drawings, sketches, calculations, and records, to maintain a complete history of process and product evolution.
  • Overseeing or assisting with process modifications and tooling changeovers.
  • Performing repair and modification work on site facilities and equipment, including electrical wiring and service installation tasks.
  • Completing all assigned development and maintenance tasks appropriately and providing feedback to the computerized management system (Pirana).
Skills

  • Qualified in installing single and three-phase electrical circuits.
  • 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Qualification (preferred but not essential).
  • Design-level experience with PLCs and/or control system programming, especially Siemens S7 and UR 6-axis robots.
  • Experience with process systems such as bowl feeders, walking beams, and pick-and-place mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding engineering drawings and schematic diagrams.
  • Experience with pneumatics in equipment construction and maintenance.
  • Ability to operate workshop equipment, including lathes and milling machines.
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements related to the Machinery Directive and equipment building.
  • Familiarity with 5S, lean manufacturing, and health, safety, and environmental (HS&E) practices.
