An exciting CNC Cylindrical Grinder position has become available in Durham at a precision engineering company.

Job Title: Studer Cylindrical Grinder

Shifts: 

06.00 – 14:00 Monday to Thursday   and     06:00 -12:00 on a Friday

14:00 – 23:24 Monday to Thursday  and    No Friday

Rate: Circa £18 p/h + 20% Shift Allowance = Up to £21.60 p/h

The Job

• Prepare and set up Studer cylindrical grinding machines for operation.
• Adjust machine settings to achieve specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Load and unload workpieces, ensuring proper alignment and secure clamping.
• Ensure that finished components meet specified dimensions and quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with grinding machines as they arise.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

• Time Served Grinder.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to read and understand drawings.
• Able to Program a CNC Studer Control.
• Able to inspect own work.
• Must be able to work to extremely tight tolerances.
• Must have good knowledge of different grades of wheel for specific materials.
• Studer Grinders. (External & internal grinding)
• Grinding wheel and tool selection with dressing techniques
• Shadow graph experience would be an advantage.
• Be able to use and read all manner of inspection equipment.
• Thread grinding.
• Profile grinding.
• Coolant management
• Manual and CNC Turning knowledge would be an advantage.
