The Health and Safety Advisor works closely with the business to guide, liaise and support the administration of the Health and Safety function and management systems.
Your Tasks
- Support and guide the organisation to meet Health and Safety requirements and obligations.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders to influence and promote good H&S practice
- Develop and maintain the company's health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring they are compliant with all relevant legislation and regulations.
- Creating/Completing risk assessments, safe systems of work, safety audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Advise management on safety matters, including the implementation of safety initiatives, safety management systems, and safety performance indicators.
- Provide safety training to employees, which could include inductions, manual handling, and DSE.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, conduct root cause analysis with recommendations for corrective actions
- Liaise with regulatory & audit accreditation bodies, ensuring that the company remains compliant with all relevant safety legislation and regulations.
- To take appropriate measures to keep the workforce informed of safety matters inclusive of delivery of site safety meetings.
- Attend safety meetings and conferences to stay abreast of industry developments and best practices
- Mentor and advise our IOSH-qualified managers on safety, compiling safety documentation, and following best practices.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health & Safety, Information Security, Site Security and GDPR
- System administrator for organisation health and safety management system
- To support and complement the fire-responsible person at their site to ensure the site overall is compliant with the RFFO.
Your Profile
Someone who thrives on working in a fast-paced environment and takes a hands-on approach to their workload.
You’ll have:
- NEBOSH general certification or equivalent
- Full and valid driving license
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with acute attention to detail
- Someone who has experience working in a warehouse environment would be advantageous but not essential.
Desirable, but not essential:
- NEBOSH Environmental Management or equivalent
- NEBOSH Certificate in Fire safety or equivalent.
- Manual handling assessor
- DSE Assessor
