Location: Birmingham, B18 6NF
Salary: £30,000 per annum (pro rata)
Contract: Part time, Permanent
Hours: 21 hours per week, pro rate of 35 hours per week

We are CATALYST 4 CHANGE, we are on a powerful mission to strengthen the capacity and networks of user-led, voluntary, social enterprise, grassroots, organisations and businesses to ensure the right mental health care is in place.

We provide a range of services for grassroots mental health and wellbeing providers in the West Midlands, including lobbying & representation, signposting, events and much more!

We are now recruiting for a Research & Evaluation Lead to lead the delivery of specified outputs and requirements from a range of internal and external research and evaluation funded projects.

Research & Evaluation Lead – About the role:

You will support the Black Thrive Research Institute and Observatory (RIO) aim to become an authoritative voice on data, developing the collective conceptual resourced required for Black Liberation and generating meaningful systems change through Black-led research insights.  

You will lead, coordinate and potentially deliver high quality research and evaluation supporting the dissemination of relevant research, policy development and good practice.

In addition to this as our Research & Evaluation Lead you will be specifically responsible for:

•  Lead and manage a portfolio of projects, ensuring successful delivery and achievement of outputs.
•  Design and deliver project activities using suitable research/evaluation methodologies.
•  Maintain comprehensive documentation, including ethics approvals, proposals, and budgets.
•  Communicate effectively with project collaborators and funders, providing regular updates.
•  Conduct in-depth data analysis and present findings in agreed formats.
•  Develop and implement Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track project progress.
•  Facilitate recruitment of service users, carers, and community members for research projects.
•  Prepare progress reports and updates for funders, stakeholders, and senior management.
•  Create engaging content for newsletters, blogs, and digital channels.
•  Collaborate on joint research opportunities and fundraising efforts.

Research & Evaluation Lead – What we need from you:

Essential Skills & Attributes

•  Skills and experience of designing qualitative and / or quantitative research / evaluation projects and of applying methodology to fieldwork (semi-structured interviews, focus groups etc).
•  Experience in project planning, oversight and delivery.
•  Ability to lead, co-ordinate and deliver fieldwork.
•  Knowledge of ethical guidelines for conducting research and evaluation.
•  In depth knowledge and understanding of the experiences of people of African and Caribbean descent.
•  Good knowledge and understanding of race, equality and systemic racism on individuals / communities.
•  Ability to process, transcribe, clean, analyse and present data.
•  Ability and experience in report writing and dissemination of findings and recommendations.

It would be great if you had:

•  Previous experience in designing and delivering research and evaluation projects in the voluntary sector.
•  Experience of effectively working with a voluntary sector.
