We are recruiting for a leading contractor operating within the fire protection market delivering projects up to £10m in value across a variety of sectors including Commmercial, Student Accommodation, Hotels & Leisure, Social Housing, Healthcare, Education and Facilities Management.

Due to recent contract wins and continuous growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Director to lead their Fire Dampers Division.

We are looking for a qualified and competent Senior Manager with solid experience in a running regional/national workforce, delivering Fire Protection / Fire Damper projects.

We will also consider candidates from the Construction, Fit-out, Social Housing, and Refurbishment sectors.

You must be an effective leader with the ability to develop a highly talented and motivated team, whilst building strong relationships with internal business functions, stakeholders, customers, consultants, and the wider supply chain.

You will hold a relevant project management methodology qualification; Axelos, Prince, APM or PMI etc.

Operations Director Responsibilities:

  • Reporting and informing the CEO on operational activity and progress
  • Overseeing a number of service, sector, and geography-split business units delivering passive fire services
  • Supporting and developing the Business Unit Leaders towards successful business growth
  • Driving people development at all levels
  • Strengthening the team through recruitment
  • Leading operational and commercial input to win large strategic opportunities
  • Ensuring a professional service is provided to clients from initial enquiry through to certification
  • Ensuring high health and safety and quality standards
  • Taking full responsibility for the hub P&L managing budgeted overhead and delivering profitable contracts
  • Innovating and implementing business improvement through your input to the SMT and other Operational forums
  • Implementing company-wide strategic objectives
  • Ensuring control and governance through clear delegation, responsibility, reporting, and checks

Operations Director Experience:

  • Construction experience operating at Director level for a main contract for at least 3 years
  • Membership of a professional body e.g. MCIOB/MICE/RIBA, RICS, etc (preferred)
  • Project management methodology qualification; Axelos, Prince, APM or PMI etc.
  • A good understanding of construction methods and technology including materials
  • Proven proactive knowledge of the management of health, safety, and environment
  • Fire protection experience witihin Fire Dampers (desirable)
  • A proven track record in winning and delivering high quality, safe and profitable contracts
  • Directing Safely or equivalent
  • ILM Level 5 or equivalent Leadership
  • A drive for continuous team and personal improvement
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Ability to foresee and manage business risk
