About the Opportunity 

The Area Engineering Manager (AEM) role is to deliver a portfolio of projects in the Front End Delivery Team (FED) to support the safe operation of Sellafield Facilities. 

The successful candidate will form, lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver a technical solution for a portfolio of projects that meets the corresponding requirements, associated performance conditions and constraints in the Functional or Requirements Specification for the area, to the agreed time, cost and quality. 

  • Identify the root cause of problems experienced on operational facilities
  • Elicit and agree requirements with the Client
  • Lead the decision making to identify the scope required to meet the client requirements
  • Develop delivery strategies for the timely implementation of the agreed solution
  • Conduct the Principle Designer role associated with the projects being delivered.

Requirements

  • Evidence of design capability & delivery
  • Extensive post-graduate industrial/ practical experience of designated skill set possibly within the nuclear industry but certainly within a related transferrable industry
  • Degree qualified and Chartered Engineer (or equivalent)
  • Appropriate institutional membership (Engineering/ scientific)
  • Significant experience working in an engineering design environment
