We are looking for an NDT Engineer for a 12 month contract based in Inchinnan on behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions for the Aerospace Industry.
Job description - the role
As an NDT Engineer (Controlling, Level 3), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity and reliability of aerospace components through rigorous non-destructive testing methods. You will be responsible for performing and overseeing x-ray, dye penetrant, and ultrasonic tests, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company specifications. This role involves inspecting exotic materials, including titanium and Inconel.
As an NDT Engineer you will be responsible for:
- Conduct and oversee x-ray, dye penetrant, and ultrasonic testing on aerospace components.
- Develop and approve NDT procedures and techniques for various materials, including exotic alloys like titanium and Inconel.
- Interpret and evaluate test results according to applicable standards, codes, and specifications.
- Provide training, guidance, and certification for Level 1 and Level 2 NDT technicians.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections and test results.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Conduct audits and reviews of NDT processes and equipment.
- Stay current with industry developments and advancements in NDT technology.
What we require from the candidate:
- Certified Level 3 in x-ray, dye penetrant, and ultrasonic testing (ASNT, NAS 410, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in inspecting exotic materials, including titanium and Inconel.
- In-depth knowledge of NDT methods, materials, and equipment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex test results.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficient in relevant software and computer applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred.
