We are recruiting an HMI Planning Engineer for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role. The contract is on an ongoing basis a may run for several years.

We are looking for a talented induvial who:

• Has a good Understanding of the European Customer / Market / Ergonomic / Regulatory Requirements
• Has an understanding of how HMI is evolving in EV’s to provide a Seamless Customer Experience In / Out of the Car
• Has Experience of Working with Product Planning / Styling to Realise their Dream whilst ensure Project QCD / COCA Targets are respected
• Has CAD Layout Experience or Experience of Working with CAD Layout Engineers to Realise these Requirements

Key Responsibilities of the HMI Planning Engineer:

Main Tasks:
• Product Planning Concept / Target Customer / Product Positioning
• Vehicle Planning Requirements
• Vehicle Performance / Measured Targets
• Ergonomic Requirements
• Regulatory / Safety Requirements
• COCA (Carry Over Carry Across) Component Requirements
• Vehicle Benchmark & Trend
• Component Benchmark & Trend
• Previous Market Concerns
• Styling Sketches / Data

Make Interior / HMI Planning: -
• Collaborate with Product Planning / Styling / Marketability / Engineering / CAD Group to:-
• Decide / Document the Layout of Major Components / Screens / SW’s
• Define / Document the Engineering Requirements / Specifications to be Respected through the Product Development
• In order to meet the Product Concept / Targets within Project Budgets / Timing Constraints

Run Interior / HMI Planning Centre:-
• Maintain Alignment between Vehicle / Interior / HMI / CPM / Console / Seat / Luggage Plan Drawings
• Oversee Styling Model Development ensure Styling remains on Layout / Budget
• Collaborate with Styling / Engineering to Develop / Document F&F / Colour / Gloss & Grain / GUI / RGB / Electric Architecture Requirements
• Make DA’s to resolve Area to Area Issues / make recommendation to CVE

Make Output:-
• Issue Interior / HMI Planning Drg at Each Major Milestone

Monitor / Reports:-
• Interior / HMI Planning KPI Status to CVE at Each Major Milestone

Must Have:
• Previous automotive design and development experience
• Previous experience of cost breakdown analysis and working in a technical/commercial cross functional team.
• Prior knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Valid driving licence for driving in the UK & able to travel globally

Qualifications & Experience for the HMI Planning Engineer:

• Design / engineering qualification
• Prior knowledge of interior cabin parts / modules including:-
• Global Design and development at part / module level
• Interior ergonomics and cabin layout.
• Technical analysis / Decision analysis of concepts
• Managing and reporting project status (cost / quality and timing)
• Working as Part of a Cross Functional Team
• Must display an understanding of how to engineer
• injection moulded plastic and pressed metal assemblies.
• CAD layout experience
• Time Management skills
• Microsoft office (Excel and PowerPoint in particular)
• Clean UK Driving Licence

Hours & Pay for the HMI Planning Engineer:

• Monday to Friday
• 39 hours per week
• £27.00p/h
