The Opportunity

We now have an amazing opportunity for a Quarry Manager at the largest quarry in the UK. Based onsite at Glensanda our 6,000 acre Granite super quarry you’ll take ownership of a large operational team who are responsible for the annual extraction of 7m tonne’s of granite.

Working with a very abrasive product on a site blasting multiple times a week, you’ll take a birds-eye view of the quarry where you’ll be responsible for promoting a strong Health & Safety culture in line with protocol and H&S legislation. The role of Quarry Manager requires an experienced people manager with a proven track record within a quarry environment.

Glensanda is only accessible via the Aggregate Industries ferry from Benderloch, so you could either do a daily trip or stop onsite in free en-suite accommodation. Onsite in the accommodation block you’ll also have use of the Gym, Suana, Games Room, TV Rooms & Canteen area.

Keys aspects of the role include:

Act as 8.1d when the quarry manager is present, and their absence act as 8.1c utilising other 8.1d relief available on site to maintain a statutory presence.

Lead a safe and sustainable work environment

You will help maintain the financial performance of the site in line with budget requirements ensuring processes are implemented to report all information required for accounting purposes

Implement and ensure compliance of the company’s health and safety rules, Quality assurance and environmental policies

Work strategically to ensure quarry operations are carried out in accordance with the geotechnical assessment and quarry design plan

Who you are

You’ll already understand Quarry Regulations, Statutory Health & Safety and Employment legislation.

You will be a strong leader of people, onsite you’ll have direct and indirect reports so it’s important for you to have experience leading a team.

You’ll need to have strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relations with others - internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll be highly organised with demonstrable planning and delivery capabilities.

You’ll have an understanding of budgets and financial responsibility.
