Title: Estimator
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000
Location: Basildon, Essex
 
We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to accurately determine the cost of Cat A and Cat B projects by analysing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, conducting risk assessments, and working closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure projects are completed within budget and to the highest standards.
 
Key Responsibilities: Analyse Blueprints and Specifications:
 
Review and interpret: project plans and specifications to understand the scope of Cat A and Cat B projects.
Prepare Cost Estimates: Calculate labour, material, and equipment costs to create detailed project cost estimates.
Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
Prepare Bid Proposals: Develop comprehensive bid proposals and present them to clients and stakeholders.
Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of all estimates, contracts, and project documentation.
Update Costs: Stay updated on current material costs, labour rates, and industry trends.
Support Negotiations: Assist in negotiating contracts and change orders.
 
Qualifications:
 
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
 
Experience: Experience as an Estimator, with specific experience in Cat A and Cat B projects.
 
Skills:

• Proficiency in estimation software.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
