Advanced Social Worker - Assessment Teams

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? Join our dedicated team as a Social Worker in Staffordshire, where you will play a crucial role in assessing, developing, and delivering services to meet the needs of vulnerable children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Needs Assessment: Evaluate the needs of children and young people requiring social work services, identify risks, and determine the need for protection.
- Multi-Agency Plans: Develop, coordinate, and deliver multi-agency plans to address assessed needs, and review these plans to ensure their continued effectiveness.
- Service Development: Identify unmet needs and service gaps to inform resource allocation and influence service development at local and regional levels.
- Collaborative Engagement: Work with other professionals, statutory, and voluntary agencies to deliver agreed services.
- Workload Management: Manage a complex caseload with autonomy, adhering to statutory obligations and departmental policies.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on our electronic management system.
- Professional Development: Participate in supervision sessions, staff meetings, and take advantage of training opportunities.
- Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to service evaluation and development by sharing your expertise with colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Mentorship: Provide support and guidance to newly qualified and less experienced social workers.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Ensure services are delivered efficiently, within budget, and contribute to savings and investment goals.
- People Management: Engage with People Management policies and processes.
- Equalities: Commit to equality and anti-discriminatory practices, meeting or exceeding legislative standards.
- Climate Change: Implement energy conservation practices in line with the Council’s climate change strategy.
- Health and Safety: Promote a safe work environment in accordance with Council policies.
- Safeguarding: Ensure the welfare of vulnerable groups.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Recognized qualification in social work (Dip/SW, BA, MA, or equivalent)
- Social Work England Registration
- Full UK driving licence
- Post-qualification experience in children’s social work, including work with children looked after and safeguarding
- Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks (Children’s Act 1989, Children’s Act 2004, Adoption Regulations)
- Experience in assessment planning for children and young people, or assessment of adopters/carers
- Proven mentoring experience
- Strong ICT skills
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and manage your workload effectively
- Interagency working experience and skills

- Location: Flexible and mobile working across Staffordshire
- Essential Car User: This post requires a full UK driving licence and the ability to travel across Staffordshire.
- Enhanced DBS: Required for this role.
