Shipping/ Packing Support

£12.5 - £13.95/hour

Job Purpose / Objectives: 

Ensure that customer orders are packed and ready for delivery, fulfilled correctly, and despatched on time, with all appropriate paperwork

Packing: 

  • Inspect items before packing ensuring test and inspection has been completed
  • Safely and securely pack products and components according to company standards
  • Use appropriate packing materials and methods to protect items during transit
  • Label packages accurately with relevant information, including but not limited to shipping addresses, handling instructions, and contents
  • Operate packing equipment tools such as packing foam machine
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels of packing materials and shipping supplier, collaborate with the procurement team to reorder supplies as needed

 Shipping:

  • To prepare and process shipping documents including collection sheets, custom invoices, packing lists & all shipping-related labels
  • Coordinate with customers, carriers, and freight forwarders to arrange transportation and ensure timely delivery of goods, including the use of shipping portals such as FedEx, DHL etc
  • To despatch products on time with accurate records being kept, via the most efficient and cost-effective method, which meets or exceeds the clients’ expectations.
  • Resolve shipping-related issues, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies.
  • Maintain shipping records and logs for compliance and reporting purposes
  • Keep an electronic record of test sheets after despatch
  • Maintain traceable records of temporary Imports so they can be reconciled with exports to minimise payments to HM Customs.
  • Assist the Procurement team with Imports as and when required
  • To collate and report costing of shipping products such as material usage, time taken, quality, on-time delivery etc.
  • Maintain continuous cover in these duties with counterparts in other companies in the Group.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a logistics or warehouse role is desirable
  • Understanding of customs requirements and commodity codes is desirable 
  • Experience in an engineering company is desirable 
  • Good attention to detail 
  • Ability to make/maintain clear and accurate records 
  • Self-starter with organised approach
  • Computer proficiency 
  • Ability to lift and move heavy packages and stand for extended periods 

Other Information:

  • 40 hour week paid weekly 
  • 20 days holiday plus all bank holidays from Day 1, increasing to 25 days holiday plus bank holidays with length of service 
  • Overtime is available subject to needs of the business
  • Salary Exchange pension structure, with employee contributions matched by company at 5%
