Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm

Fleet car provided for any off site visits

We are currently in a position to welcome a new Health and Safety Manager to the Cousins team, ensuring the highest standards of health and safety across all our operations.

The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety management, excellent leadership skills, and a proactive approach to risk management.

THE ROLE OF THE HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER:

The role will see you working both on site and in our head office in Rochester, reporting to our Health and Safety Director, the primary responsibilities will include;

• To provide guidance and on-site support to both our planned works, reactive works, projects, and Electrical engineers on a day-to-day basis. Ensuring that health, safety and environmental legislation/ client requirements and company policies are development and adhered to on site, including RAMS.
• Identify problems or opportunities on site and take a proactive approach to these and problem solving - (Audit Site, help prepare Construction Phase Plans (CPP) / Site documents)
• · Promote a positive health, safety, and environmental culture on site and when in the office/ yard/ warehouse.
• Support our projects team and surveyors in technical aspects of health and safety requirements on large scale jobs.
• Write and review all high-level RAMS.
• Working with our Directors and Managers on all Health and Safety Quality compliance and environmental matters
• Assist management of ISO9001, 14001 and 45001, ensuring non compliances are addressed and new accreditation obtained/ current standards are met
• Accidents and near misses are investigated, recorded and reported.
• To create and review new policies where appropriate or required to suit the needs of the business.

To be considered for the position, it would be desirable to have:

• NEBOSH (General and Construction)
• IOSH Accredited (technical IOSH)
• APS accreditation – for CDM and principal contractor
• Experience in the audit and/ or accreditation process of ISO.
• Experience of Construction, facilities Management or Facilities Provider industries
• Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO9001 and ISO45001
• Knowledge of safety contractor, Construction Line, CHAS
• Assist and monitor PQQ Process/ PPE/ Training/ Fire alarm testing/ Asbestos register/ Inductions.
• Review and Develop COSHH/ RAMS/ CPP’s/ Toolbox talks.
• Update and maintain health and Safety Manuals/ Equipment registers.
• Maintain HAV (Vibration) Register
• Experience of environmental matters (i.e Business carbon footprint)
