Materials Co-ordinator

Zenith People are working with our client who have an opportunity for an experienced Materials Coordinator to join their business on a permanent basis.  You will be responsible for ordering and controlling stock levels of raw materials including management of inventory control system (ERP).

Day Shift 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor production plan to identify material requirements and potential shortages
  • Optimise stock levels and avoid running out of stock items
  • Work with suppliers to ensure deliveries are received on time and as required
  • Organise raw material import and prepare documents for customs clearance
  • Maintain DMS boards to ensure other team members are kept up to date with raw material status
  • Manage inventory control system to ensure it is accurate and reflects the physical stock levels with investigations into variances
  • Conduct month end activities including reconciliation of stock and stock management system
  • Ensure Raw Material prices are kept up to date within the system and communicate stock price changes accordingly
  • Co-ordinate material deliveries with Production Supervision to ensure sufficient resources are assigned to facilitate efficient unloading
  • Create purchase orders for stock, transport and other ad hoc consumables as required
  • Work with central purchasing to identify purchasing saving opportunities and review purchased items for opportunities to optimise cost savings
  • Work to simplify stock management and storage arrangements
  • Develop and improve Kanban and visual management systems
  • Support the plant team with general administrative activities, e.g. general purchasing and answering and directing incoming calls in the appropriate manner
  • Provide cover for Supply Chain Supervisor and Plant Administrator for Production planning and other xx and administration duties, during holidays, absences and at other times to meet the needs of the business.
  • Provide training to colleagues in order that they can fully understand the Material Controller role and, where appropriate, provide cover for the role during holidays and at other times to meet the needs of the business.
  • Undertake other duties/activities, as required by the business from time to time, commensurate with the role.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Experience of lean management techniques
  • Experience of purchasing and forecasting
  • Experience of production / manufacturing environment
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in Oracle, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Good team working abilities, leading teams, projects
  • Effective time management skills, with an ability to balance the demand of various projects
