Technical Author (Contract) - Remote - £50-55/h

Job Overview:

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Technical Author with experience in Defence or similarly highly regulated environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating technical documentation, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including user manuals, installation guides, system specifications, and maintenance instructions.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, and other cross-functional teams to gather information and ensure accurate documentation.
• Translate complex technical concepts and procedures into clear, concise, and accessible content.
• Ensure all documentation complies with relevant standards, regulations, and security requirements.
• Edit, revise, and proofread documents to ensure consistency and quality.
• Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively.
• Utilize various documentation tools and software to create and manage documentation.
• Participate in reviews and audits of technical documentation.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in technical communication.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
• Proven experience as a Technical Author in the Defence industry or a similarly highly regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of technical documentation standards and best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality documentation.
• Knowledge of Defence standards and regulations is highly desirable.
