General Classroom Teaching Assistant (Year 1)

Contract Type: Full-time Monday - Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm, Term-time only
Qualification Required: Minimum Level 2 TA Qualification

The Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support our Year 1 class. In this role, you will work closely with an experienced class teacher, providing essential support across all subject areas. Additionally, you will play a key role in delivering targeted interventions in phonics and maths, focusing on pupils who are falling behind to help them catch up and succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the class teacher in delivering the curriculum across all subject areas.
• Assist with planning and implementing small group interventions in phonics and maths for children who require additional support.
• Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning concepts and support their progress.
• Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and motivated.
• Support with classroom management, preparing resources, and maintaining a safe and engaging learning environment.
• Monitor and report on pupil progress to the class teacher, contributing to assessment and planning.

About You:

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Experience working with young children, ideally in a Year 1 setting.
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly in phonics and early maths.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive, flexible, and compassionate approach to supporting young learners.
