Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Waking Night Support Worker to join the team at the Islington site, 

Our client is a diverse organisation providing a flexible and personalised service supporting young adults with Mental Health disorders /Learning Disabilities/Substance Misuse issues and Physical Disabilities within a supported living service.

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you'll provide companionship and support for the service users we support. You'll be assisting with the efficient running of the site by carrying out regular tasks including but not limited to, housekeeping, laundry, and food preparation ensuring that the people supported have a great night's sleep.

All candidates MUST have experience with working with Mental Health clients, Learning Disabilities, Vulnerable Adults and with Substance Misuse challenges. You will need to provide as much or, as little support as they will need for each of the living skills and guide the user to achieve those skills necessary to live independently by providing care and support to individuals and families.

  • To alert the Service Manager of any changes in the service user´s condition or circumstances
  • To create and maintain good communication with Service Users including those who may have some degree of communication difficulties.
  • To make and maintain effective working relationships with Service Users.
  • To develop good communication links with the usual carer or family member in the service user´s home
  • Undertake housekeeping, household cleaning and laundry duties as requested if outlined in the support plan.
  • To help with purchasing of provisions to provide an adequate, balanced and stimulating diet where necessary.
  • Report writing & Record keeping.
  • Administration of medication, including checking and auditing.
  • Key working responsibilities.
  • Confidentiality.
  • To adhere to all of the Clients policies

In general, it is the duty of the post holder to undertake all support work with the sensitivity required to provide services in a way, which will preserve the dignity, privacy, choice, independence, fulfilment and rights of the service user and his/her usual carer/members of family.
